Meet the Artist @pedrocorrea84

The ‘bone’-afide artist behind this thank you card, Pedro Correa, is inspired by retro comic books and sci-fi art, but he doesn’t let any one style define his work. We love collaborating with Pedro for the supernatural spin he puts on his stickers and his retro-futuristic flair. See what he’s got to say in the artist spotlight interview.

Artist of the Month: Pedro Correa
Thank you card December 2024: @pedrocorrea84

A glimpse into the creative world of Pedro Correa.

StickerApp: How would you define your style?

Pedro: I don't really know how to define my work, but I see people using adjectives like surreal and psychedelic whenever they need to put a label on it :)

StickerApp: What's your favorite technique?

Pedro: My favorite technique is a mix of both analog and digital methods. I like to do the linework using ink pens, texture using screentones, and then color and finish in Photoshop.

StickerApp: Who or what's your biggest inspiration?

Pedro: I find most of my inspiration in comic books (especially from the 40s to 60s), sci-fi art, and old woodcuts.

StickerApp: How did it all start?

Pedro: To cut a long story short, I've been drawing since I was a child and after finishing high school I started a graphic design degree in 2005 where I was able to acquire technique and repertoire. I worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for about 5 years and since 2014 I have dedicated myself entirely to illustration.

StickerApp: Do you have a tip for those who are starting out?

Pedro: Choose your references carefully and study them. There is no problem in copying the style of someone you admire to understand their process. This will help you find your own style in the future. Post your work and create a portfolio. Don't be attached to your work. As it evolves, delete old projects to make room for new and more interesting ones. I think this is the most important piece of advice of all: practice as much as you can, every day.

StickerApp: What's your favorite app or program?

Petrouchkaka: I’d say Procreate and Deezer (because one doesn’t go without the other).

StickerApp: Why do you use StickerApp?

Petrouchkaka: Because the stickers are gorgeous and of insanely high quality!

StickerApp: What's your favorite material?

Petrouchkaka: I love the Holographic option for stickers. In fact, I use it almost every time. I think it adds something special, a super attractive touch that makes the sticker feel more precious.

StickerApp: How do you use stickers for your own business/personal brand?

Petrouchkaka: I always have a few stickers in my bag, so when I walk around Brussels, I like to stick them everywhere. You can also find them at illustration markets and soon in my shop!
